[He sat in one of the drawing room's large armchairs, lounging with his medical case in his lap. The woman who owned the house had left the fire burning, which was nice and warm in the middle of the night, especially with no lit candles nearby.

The rest of the house had been asleep for a while, even Cain. So there would be no one to notice if an odd stranger were to suddenly appear. Hopefully Hakuba had the sense to worldhop indoors; what with all the local murders, it was still dangerous to be out after dark.]

[Chase arrived in time, as eh always did, and parked the car near the house. Dr. Allen lived in a time before his own era and it was not a good idea to surprise people with technology from the future. It was not Tyki's world, as he first thought, but the man's comments about the Earl still made him suspicious. He knocked at the door and waited patiently.]

[He went to open the door, glancing through the window first to make sure it was actually Hakuba and not, say, a polite vampire. Upon opening the door, he smiled politely.] Ah, hello Hakuba.

[No vampires. Just a boy with a strange butterfly in his shoulder because that one is bigger than the other and can't stay in his pocket. Feel free to ignore. Or stare. Or try to capture it, but you might lost a finger. It was a skull in his back.]

[He notices the butterfly but doesn't ask. Everything he's learned about the community, its members, and the future has so far been very strange. He figures its safer not to ask.]

A pleasure to meet you as well. Please, come in. [He steps aside to let Hakuba walk in.]

[Him not asking question about strange things tells Hakuba more than the actual questions itself. Either the doctor was a man used to strange things (he spoke about vampires after all9, or a man that learned quickly. Probably both. With a nod he stepped inside, looking at his surroundings discreetly, detective instincts never shutting down.]

A pity that we had to meet in such complicated situation.

[He shuts the door behind Hakuba, smiling amiably before wandering towards where he'd left his medical case.] I've kept the cup in here for safekeeping, so it should still have the residue I spoke to you about.

[Hakuba showed him the small case he hold in his left hand before to follow him.] I have all the necessary to assure that it wont' be contaminated further.

[He smiles a tiny bit at that.] That's good to know. [He undoes the clasps to his medical case before pulling out a small, airtight jar; inside is the used tea cup. He grabs it before handing it towards Hakuba.]

Give me a second. [Hakuba puts the case on the floor, opens it and put on a pair of gloves. He wants your fingerprints too, 'Dr. Allen'.] Let me see it.

[He watches Hakuba intently but his expression doesn't change.] Alright, here. [He hands it over, still watching him curiously.]

It was in Earl Cain's room when I arrived. Because he'd been ill, no one had been in to clean up; there was concern that the staff might contract his fever, so none of the maids had cleaned up.

No, I went into his room when I arrived so I could treat him. Riff -- the butler -- had also been in there, though he never cleaned up.

He did, he had a high fever and chills, and stayed unconscious for the first few days I was there.

It will be of no use to enter that room without the proper equipment and I don't have that with me. [Hakuba frowned slightly, but it lasted a second.]At least we can be sure it's not spread through the air.
